In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at the first-ever PokerStars Sunday Special, Fabrice Soulier making his wildcard selections for GPL and ElkY scoring a title in a game that’s not poker.

1) FunkyJesus Wins 1st NJ Sunday Special

All aboard the NJ train!

It’s been quite a week for poker in New Jersey with PokerStars already surpassing 1,000 players at peak traffic.

Well yesterday also marked the first official offerings of Sunday Majors by PokerStars in the state.

The big $200 Sunday Special attracted 309 players to create a $57,474 prize pool, which easily trumped the $50k guarantee on the event.

Perhaps the best part of the occasion was the fact that an online player named FunkyJesus actually won the inaugural edition of the NJ tournament on Easter Sunday.

PokerStars pros Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker and Jen Shahade are just a few of the big name pros who have made their way to NJ to try out the USA-facing PokerStars.

Of course Jason Somerville is streaming from NJ for the near future if you want a first-hand look at PokerStars NJ.

2) Alex Luneau is First GPL Wildcard

We have our first wildcard selection in the Global Poker League.

Paris Aviators team manager Fabrice Soulier led things off by selecting ultra skilled high-stakes pro Alex “Alexonmoon” Luneau.

It’s a pretty solid pick and Luneau should fit right in on the team that also includes Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Davidi Kitai, George Danzer and Mike Leah.

Soulier actually picked himself as the second wild card selection on the team. There’s a good chance that’s going to be a trend as the wild cards get selected as most team managers are most likely going to want to actually play in this thing.

Here’s Soulier announcing the wild card pick from Malta:

3) ElkY = Hearthstone Champ

Remember when it was announced Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier was joining the Hearthstone division of Team Liquid.

Well it turns out it wasn’t just symbolic position. Grospellier won the Redemption Cup at the Insomnia Truesilver Championship 2 event last night.

It’s the first Hearthstone tournament win on ElkY’s resume although he certainly has plenty of poker titles to go along with it.

ElkY overwhelmed his opponent Greensheep 3-0 in the finals and clinched the title with a Zoo Warlock deck.

The French poker pro picked up a modest £1,000 for his efforts in the competition so there’s a good chance he’s not quitting poker any time soon.

If you’re into Hearthstone you can watch a VOD of the final below:
