Baazov: PokerStars Still Aiming for Q3 New Jersey License

Baazov made the statement during Amaya’s first quarter earnings call yesterday. The CEO was actually just reaffirming what he said about the New Jersey market back in March.

PokerStars and Full Tilt have been aggressively pursuing licenses in various countries around the globe and FTP recently received one in Denmark.

New Jersey isn’t the only U.S. state that Amaya is carefully tracking, however. California is also very much on the radar at this point.

“…As related to the California we’re very pleased with the efforts and what we see,” said Amaya Chief Financial Officer Daniel Sebag.

“We’re very happy to have coalition that we have, the partner that we have there and yes we’re very, very excited about what momentum we see…”

Last month California’s online poker bill passed through committee. It marked the first time an online poker bill had ever passed through a vote in California.

While it didn’t legalize poker right away, it was seen as a positive step for online poker in the US. The bill still has three more hearings to get through including a pivotal one in September.
